Vince Was in Town!

On Saturday, my cousin Vince (yes, I have cousin Vinnie) was in town with Ballet Hispanico and the Arturo O'Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra for a show at the Lila Cockrell Theatre downtown. The show is called Palladium Nights. The show centered on the New York jazz scene in the 1950s at the Palladium Nightclub. There were amazing dancers and the music really just made me want to get up and dance!! It was really hard to stay in my seat!

For those of you who don't know, Vince is an extremely talented drummer and has a very successful career as musician. In fact, just yesterday he called me and told me that when he returned to New York yesterday, he found out that the orchestra he played with for the show won a Grammy! The orchestra was nominated for a the best Latin Jazz Album: Song for Chico - Arturo O'Farrill and The Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra and they won! How cool is that??!!! I have a Grammy Award winning family member! I am so proud of him and the orchestra. They were absolutely fantastic!

Paul and I don't get out much for dates anymore, so we were not only siked to see Vince, but excited to have a fun night out downtown. After the show, we got together with Vince and went down to the Riverwalk to have margaritas! It was great spending time with him and catching up. It's not very often that I see extended family out here, so it was an extra special visit.

Vince - thanks so much for inviting us to the show and for treating us to drinks afterwards. We had a wonderful time and CONGRATS on the Grammy Award! May God continue to bless you in your career. Love you!
