We had Ashley's 3rd birthday party 2 weeks after her actual birthday because #1) we originally booked it for sept. 12th at a clubhouse, but it turned out a week before the party we were double booked, #2)So plan "B" was that since I was traveling to Minnesota for work the week of Sept. 13th, we thought it'd be best to have it a little later in the month and to have it at our house after all. And I think the double booking was a blessing in disguise because at that time I was still battling morning sickness and I don't think I would have been up to planning and hosting a birthday party that weekend. It all worked out for the best and having it at our house ended up being charming and really sweet. Paul and I wanted to go ALL OUT for Ashley this year since it was going to be the last birthday party with just her, and no other siblings. Ashley really wanted a princess birthday themed party and we did all we could to make it super special. We went to Party City and picked up several cute Princess Themed items, and the best part was this wall covering that looked like the inside of a grand ballroom with all the Disney Princess dancing around it. It truly set the mood in the living room. Paul decided that it would be best to move all the furniture into the dining room to make room for a long buffet table that would serve as the "head table". We used a castle shaped cookie cutter to cut out PB&J sandwiches for the kids and named it Peanut Beauty and the Jelly Sandwiches. In the same manner, we named all the food and beverages to fit with the Princess theme. We had Princess Punch, Chicken Cinder-alad Sandwiches, Bibbidi Bobbidi Froot Salad, and Pasta S-Aladin. The room was filled with pink and purple balloons and streamers, and everywhere you looked you'd find something Disney Princess oriented. We had a little table for the kiddos to sit and have Tea. That was a super big hit! The kids played games like Pin the Crown on Ariel, and a Basketball shooting game. We had fun prizes for the boys and girls. It all turned out great! The topper was when we all were singing Happy Birthday to Ashley, she was actually singing along to the birthday song with all of us and once she blew out her candle she clasped her hands together and put her hands to her face with such excitement! It truly was adorable. My Mom and Dad were able to see her open gifts via webcam which made it all the more special knowing that they were there to witness her in action enjoying her gifts and party. We couldn't have been happier on how things turned out and we are so grateful for our wonderful friends and family who shared in her special birthday.
