UTSA Football

2011 was the inaugural year for the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Football team, the Road Runners!! Paul and I have been working for UTSA since 2005 and there has always been talk of a football program, and plenty of banners, T-shirts, and posters poking fun by having them emblazoned with the statement "UTSA football is Still Undefeated...." Well, it finally came true on September 3rd! Paul and I got season tickets for the year and we have attended each home game. It has been a great experience to go to a college football game!

The games were played and will continue to be played at the Alamodome which is really fun! UTSA even set a record for having the most attendance for a college football teams inaugural season! We took the kids with us for most games and they really enjoyed it. Ashley had fun doing the wave, watching the cheerleaders and marching band and meeting the families with young children that sat around us. Corey even chants the call to the team. We say "UUUUUUUUUUU TTTTTTTTTTT" and he shouts back -"SSSSSSSSSSSSS AAAAAAAAAAAAA"! It's adorable!

The teams record wasn't bad either with a 4 wins and 6 losses. We won our first and last games of the season too, which was cool. We are really proud of the team and are excited to see how they will do in the Western Athletic Conference next season against bigger schools.  It's amazing how influential Texas football is here. What a change from New Jersey.  The state and city just have a love and passion for the sport and it's neat to be a part of it. Go 'Runners!!!!
