I knew from the very beginning, even when Ashley was in the womb, that she would have great rhythm. When I was listening to the radio at work at about 7 months pregnant, the song "I will Always Love you" came on. When Whitney Houston belted out that part when you hear the drum beat, "And IIII....." Ashley kicked me in the stomach right with the beat! It was so awesome. She loved Johnny Cash music, and the band Tool. It was so cool to feel her move with the music.
Flash forward to present day.... she loves and I mean LOVES to dance to music. She even likes to bob her head to music in the car. She loves music with great beats, so that is primarily rap or dance music. She gets such a kick out of it. This morning was a great representation of how cool my kid is.
We were on our way to daycare and were listening to the Black Eyed Peas cd...AGAIN. She requests the song "Boom, Boom Pow" all the time. ("Poker Face" by Lady Gaga is her other fav) As soon as the beat kicks in this kid is bobbing her head right to the beat, lifting her hands when Fergie says to "get your hands in the air", moving her head from side to side in between beats.......I am talking totally rockin' out to the song. It's so fun to watch her get into it from the rearview mirror. She even makes this little smirk on her face when she is getting into the music. It's so awesome. It gets me into it even more because I love music so much, and just seeing my daughter jam out is so fantastic!!
Even at home when she is listening to music. You can tell when she knows when a song is upbeat or slow at different points. She will make a slow movement when the song is quiet but then starts to rock out when the beat picks up. It surely is something to see! I am so proud of her. You go Ashley!! My rockin' little princess!!!
