Camden, ME trip recap
June 30th, 2015

Today was a really beautiful day with everyone. While a group went to fly on the biplanes at Owl's Head, Camille, Cathy, Teresa, Vincent, Paul, me and Corey and Ashley went to the Swan's Lake factory store to see how they make their blankets and scarves. They are all hand woven on wooden machines. It was very interesting to watch. Everything is natural and organic. They even dye the wool with natural dyes like beet juice for bright hues of red and pink.  These blankets and scarves are most certainly an investment,  but it was enjoyable to walk through the small store. Camille and Vincent stayed back to browse the store, while the rest of us headed to downtown Camden.
Woman weaving the yarn for a blanket (They need to wear ear protection because each time the wood weaving needle moves back and forth, it makes a VERY LOUD snapping sound. It was tough to stand in there longer than 5 minutes without needing to move away for the harsh sound.)

At downtown Camden, we stopped at the Lavender store, Sherman's Bookstore and of course our favorite stop for souvenirs, The Smiling Cow. For lunch we headed to the Camden Deli and ordered sandwiches on their rooftop deck that overlooked the harbor. Camille, Vincent, Claire, Gina, and Audrey met up with us for lunch. The weather was sunny and warm, but not super hot. There was a lovely breeze that swept up from the water that made for a super pleasant and "bug-less" outdoor lunch!

Then we headed back to the house for some relaxing. Corey needed a nap and I needed some ice cream!! haha  There was an awesome assortment of ice cream (Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry and Coffee) kept in the freezer (at ALL TIMES) from a local ice cream shop called Dorman's. As most of you know, I am a huge ice cream fan, so it was easy to indulge in my craving on a frequent basis.  I have to say, all of the flavors were delicious, but my favorite was the chocolate. I have never tasted a better chocolate ice cream. Super creamy, smooth, and just the right amount of chocolate to taste rich without being too "chocolatey".  YUM!

Those were most of my notes from that day, but I do remember we had a delicious dinner out on the lawn and spent the rest of the evening hanging out at the E house putting together puzzles, reading, watching TV, and having awesome conversations over coffee. I mostly spent my evening doing the latter.

The kids went to bed really well and began their new tradition of the trip that night by falling asleep watching Full House reruns.
