30, Flirty and Fabulous!

The title of this blog is from the movie "13 Going on 30".  If you have never seen the movie, it's absolutely adorable. It's worth the rental.  The title comes from a magazine article that the main character sees at 13 and assumes that 30 is the age when everything in life is perfect.  She falls asleep at 13 and wakes up 30!  Well, I woke up on Tuesday the 16th with some negativity.  I wasn't 13 the night before, but knowing that I went to bed the night before in my 20s and then woke up the next day in my 30s was not making me the happiest person in the world.

My 20's were good to me - I started dating Paul shortly after I turned 20, I graduated college, I got my first REAL job and worked in center city Philadelphia, I got married, bought a house, moved to Texas, started a career, had a baby, and now am pregnant with another baby!  A lot happened in those 10 years!

But the day the day I turned 30 ended up being really great!  Paul got me a really cute card to open that morning, Judi (Ashley's caregiver) and her family gave me a HUGE gorgeous flower arrangement, and my coworkers decorated my desk!  This was all before 8am!  Paul and I went out for lunch to Kona Grill (super yummy - mine was free because it was my birthday), and then later that day our office celebrated February birthdays with a DELICIOUS chocolate cake and mint chocolate chip ice cream!  That day I cooked with my crock pot, so when I got home dinner was practically waiting for me, so I didn't really need to cook except for some side dishes.  On top of all of that I got some really sweet phone calls and Facebook messages that really brightened the day.

I am so thankful for my wonderful family and friends for making my 30th birthday a bright a cheerful day!  I had a dark cloud over my head for several days preceding my birthday knowing that I was bidding farewell to my 20's, but in the end, I am going forward with a positive attitude and approach to the next wonderful decade.
