Between Paul and I growing up in temperate climates, we are accustomed to snow and how to drive in it. Let alone, what it looks like in person! Most people if not all local Texans have never seen snow and if they have it mostly comes from a snow "machine" or they have had to travel elsewhere to experience it first hand. More times than not our winters are very mild with a week or two a year that has you drag out your winter coat in addition to your hat and gloves for the morning commute to work.
So when an "Arctic Blast" (that's what they were calling it) came around a couple of weeks ago, the whole city shuts down. Literally! Like they closed all the MAJOR highways! It's so comical to us! We have to remind ourselves that they probably don't stock up on salt and/or sand to cover the road for inclimate weather and most people aren't used to driving in this kind of weather so it is in their best interest to close, but it still cracks us up! We merely had a DUSTING that was gone by noon, but almost every school was closed, including our place of employment, UTSA. We were thankful to have a head start on the weekend, but just had to laugh. Anywho, we made the most of it, and for Ashley, this was a big deal! We got some fun pictures and video.
