January 10th

Yesterday was a pretty basic day...nothing crazy to report. I got in my workout early in the AM and then your typical workday! :)  But typical doesn't mean bad. It was a nice day and I am super grateful for routine. I made sausage and pepper sandwiches for the family for dinner which always reminds me of my Pop-Pop. I just remember the smell of sausage and peppers or chili cooking when I would walk in my grandparents house growing up. My brother and I would ride our bikes to their house when we were out playing (they lived 20 blocks or so from my house in Sea Isle) and we usually would stop there for a break and get a drink and use the bathroom. Sometimes it was around dinnertime and I remember smelling the cooking going on in there. When it was during the colder months, I can remember the feeling of warmth walking in there and my fingers defrosting from the cold. Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop were usually in their blue chairs in the living room either watching TV or they were getting dinner ready in the kitchen. Anywho, my mind goes there whenever I make something with peppers and onions. I think that is the smell that is the most common that was coming from the kitchen. LOVE that smell.

Over the last year or so, one of my favorite rituals at night is to have a cup of herbal tea. It helps satiate any hunger cravings before bed and fills my tummy. It is also super soothing and I really look forward to it. Yogi is my favorite brand mostly because of their awesome ingredients and taste but I really do love their little tags with positive and uplifting phrases. I tried a new flavor this week. It's delicious. I even posted it to Instagram stories.

Side note: Oh and I learned today how AMAZING it tastes to combine sweet, juicy oranges with cottage cheese and top it with unsweetened coconut. DELISH and super healthy too! TRY IT!
